Appointments System

Every doctor has a certain number of appointments each week that are available for booking in advance. You can book doctor appointments by completing an e-Consult form, further information is available below or by clicking on the link https://theharefieldpractice.webgp.com/ We will try to book you an appointment with your preferred doctor, but this may not be possible on that day, in which case we will offer you an appointment with another doctor. Our appointments are all for 10 minutes. If you have multiple or complex problems you will need to complete an e-Consult form for each issue.

Call the surgery to book all other types of appointments, including Practice Nurse appointments, Health checks, COPD, Asthma, Diabetes, Travel, Vaccinations, Child immunisation and Cervical smears.

e-Consult

e-Consult is available via this link https://theharefieldpractice.webgp.com/ e-Consult is available 24 hours a day and is the quickest way to get questions answered from your GP from any device and at any time of day. On the opening page of the website there are a set of blue boxes to select from. Having done this a set of questions that invites the patient to submit concerns or conditions will need to be completed. At the end of the questions, upon submitting the questionnaire, the form will be received by the Surgery via this online system. Once the form is submitted on e-Consult, the patient will receive a copy via email. This email will contain the unique reference number relating to the form and is for possible future use in the event of the Surgery having to be contacted at a later date.

The Practice will aim to respond to requests within 48 hours.

The Practice may respond in a variety of ways, based on information provided or the urgency of the condition:

  • If appropriate, an appointment with a Clinician may be offered, either on the day or for a later date.
  • The patient may receive a phone call from a Health Professional at the Surgery; this is because a face-to-face appointment may not be needed to resolve the issue. This will save a visit to the Surgery
  • Patients may be referred directly for investigations or a hospital appointment to further investigate symptoms
  • Patients may be directed to another Health Professional outside the Surgery, as they may be best placed to offer the advice or support needed. This could include local pharmacy support, a minor injuries unit or other services such as physiotherapy

Patients may be directed towards the appropriate self-help advice

Emergency Appointments

For emergency appointments contact the surgery as early in the day as possible; we are open from 08:30am for calls. These appointments can be requested by completing an e-Consult form. And are for patients who have a true medical emergency and need to be seen that day by the duty doctor, which might not be your preferred doctor. If you have requested an emergency appointment, you will be offered a telephone consultation in the first instance. If the doctor feels that you need to be seen in person after speaking with you on the telephone, you will be seen that day.

Telephone Consultations

Due to COVID-19 the majority of appointments will be by telephone consultation. For this reason it is important that you tell the receptionist what the problem is. They are bound by the same rules of confidentiality as the doctors and medical staff.

Cancellations & Reminders

Keep it or cancel it – Don’t waste it

There is one very important request we have for all our patients.

If you have a booked appointment and you can’t make that appointment – please cancel it.

Those non-attendance appointments could all be used to see other patients who require medical attention. Instead they are wasted.

No-one gets any benefit from an appointment where the patient doesn’t arrive.

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.

Late For Your Appointment

Please attend your appointment on time, if you are late you may not be seen. If you are not seen you will not be able to rearrange your appointment until the next working day-except in the event of an medical emergency that requires immediate attention.

Interpreter

If you require an interpreter when you see your Doctor please notify the receptionist when booking the appointment.  We have limited access to interpreters but with notice we can usually arrange for an interpreter to telephone in during your appointment.

Extended Practice Opening Hours

The Practice offers additional appointments outside these hours on Tuesday mornings from 7am. There is at least one Saturday morning surgery a month. Emergency appointments cannot be booked during this time.

Evening and Weekend Appointments Now Available:

Please note that the Extended Access Hub is open throughout the Bank Holiday weekend

We are pleased to advise that there are now appointments with GPs and nurses available to book outside of the standard GP practice opening hours (after 6.30pm and on Saturdays and Sundays).  Ask at reception for availability.  Location details are as shown below:

Eastcote Health Centre Hub, Abbotsbury Gardens, Pinner Middlesex, HA5 1TG:

Weekdays: 6.30pm to 8pm

Saturdays/Sundays: 12.00-4pm

Clover HUB at HESA Primary Care Centre, 52 Station Road, Hayes, UB3 4DD

Weekdays: 6.30pm to 8pm

Saturdays: 4pm-9pm, Sunday: 8-12pm

Uxbridge Health Centre Hub, George Street, Uxbridge, Middlesex

Weekdays: 6.30pm-8pm

Saturdays: 8am-12.00, Sunday 4-8pm.

Home Visits

Home visits are for patients who are too ill or infirm to come to the surgery.

If you would like to request a home visit, please telephone the surgery on 01895 822944 before 11am and give the receptionist as much information as you can to help the doctor assess the urgency and reason for the visit request.
